Division two league games resume

Share

ZIFA Northern Region Division Two teams in Mashonaland Central met in Glendale
over the weekend for their mid-season meeting, which among other functions,
assessed the first round of the league.
The teams were represented by at least two members each. One after another team
representative bemoaned the bad officiating from referees’ side, which they said is
characterising the league at the moment.
Others said some referees were absconding from officiating their matches
demanding their match fees upfront, before matches kick off.
Gilbert Saika, ZIFA Mashonaland Central chairperson, said if true, the referees’
behaviour is tantamount to tarnishing and discrediting ZIFA and the league.
He said he was going to talk to the provincial referees’ committee leadership about
the issues.
The league resumed last weekend (Saturday) after breaking on August 20 to pave
way for players to cast their vote in the harmonised elections.
During the meeting, Saika emphasised the need for teams to pay up their affiliation
fees.
All the 18 teams were given until the beginning of next month to pay up the fees,
failure of which, they will be disqualified from the league for this season.
