Harare (New Ziana) – Zakia Abdul Ahmed Issah (26) from Ghana has been jailed for an effective eight months for contravening Zimbabwe’s Immigration and Births and Deaths Registration laws.

According to the The National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the Harare Magistrates’ Court convicted Issah for contravening the Immigration Act and the Births and Deaths Registration Act.

The State case was that sometime this year, Issah sneaked into Zimbabwe and stayed without a valid permit.

Issah later attempted to check out at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport using a Zimbabwean passport in the name of Takudzwa Zakia Mufanachiya but was caught by alert immigration officers. Investigations revealed that Issah was a Ghanaian national who unlawfully entered and resided in the country.

It was also established that she fraudulently acquired a Zimbabwean birth certificate, national identity card and the passport by supplying false information.
