Harare,  (New Ziana) – The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has introduced a new grain purchase and storage facility aimed at enhancing efficiency and accessibility for millers, processors, and stock feed manufacturers across Zimbabwe.

In a statement, the GMB said the initiative aligns with the Government’s drive to liberalise the grain market and fully leverage the GMB’s extensive national infrastructure — comprising 1,804 collection points and a vast network of modern warehousing facilities.

“The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) is pleased to announce the introduction of the grain purchase and storage facility innovation designed to benefit millers, processors, and stock feed manufacturers across Zimbabwe. “This development is in line with the Government’s vision to liberalise the grain market and leverages GMB’s extensive network of nationwide warehousing facilities and 1,804 strategically located collection points,” said the statement.

Through the new system, GMB said clients can now purchase grain at competitive prices, with the parastatal facilitating collection at its main depots or designated collection points. Upon purchase, clients will receive grain receipts that can be redeemed for the same quantity of grain at any GMB location nationwide.

In addition, the GMB will offer flexible delivery services, allowing clients to receive grain at the most convenient depot or collection point. The board’s storage service is powered by artificial intelligence (AI)-driven silos and real-time monitoring systems to ensure optimal storage conditions and preserve grain quality.

According to the GMB, the new system offers several benefits such as convenience, affordability, flexibility, quality assurance, and reliability, while reducing the logistical burden for businesses operating in the grain value chain.

“With our nationwide reach and state-of-the-art facilities, GMB remains the partner of choice for grain marketing and storage services in Zimbabwe,” said the statement. The innovation is expected to strengthen Zimbabwe’s grain supply chain and promote a more competitive and transparent market environment.
