Mutare (Pungwe News-New Ziana) – Government will soon create a special fund for projects to address the issue of unemployment in the country, Zanu PF national secretary for security, Lovemore Matuke said.

He said this at a meeting here between Zanu PF politburo members, unemployed youths and tertiary students at Mutare Polytechnic College recently to upraise them on measures government was putting in place to address unemployment challenges.

“President Mnangagwa is a listening President, he knows and understands the challenges you are going through. He is working tirelessly to address your grievances,” said Matuke.

In line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s vision of attaining middle income status by 2030, Matuke said government will create a special fund to address issues of unemployment.

“The fund will be disbursed on non-partisan grounds to help all the youths in the country. Please don’t politicise the funding,” said Matuke.

He said the Politburo members were moving around the country to meet all the youths in the country`s 10 province to appraise them on the developments that are taking place in the country with regards to the issue of unemployment.

The delegation comprised of former finance minister and now Zanu PF Secretary for finance Patrick Chinamasa, Secretary for Health Dr David Parirenyatwa and Secretary for Indegenisation and Empowerment Dr Mike Bimha.

Speaking on the same occasion, Dr Bimha said that the Politburo was on a fact-finding mission to gather information that would align the President`s vision of attaining Middle income by 2030 with the party’s actions.

“The President of Zimbabwe upon taking oath of office after the August harmonised elections promised to tackle the issue of unemployment by creating jobs for everyone but not much has been done but this programme is one of the major steps being taken by the party to address unemployment problems in the country,” he said.

“This programme serves to align the thrust of the government which is Zimbabwe Is Open for Business. The president said we should always put the economy first and then politics follows. This is in line with his vision 2030 where the country hopes to achieve a middle income status,” said Dr Bimha.

Recently, President Mnangagwa declared that gone are the days when institutions of learning prepare people for employment but graduates need to embrace practical skills that feed into economic turnaround strategies.
