Herd man arrested for stealing bull

Harare, (New Ziana) – A herd man, Ivor Butau, has appeared in the Chinhoyi magistrates court for allegedly stealing and slaughtering a bull valued at US$400.

Butau was employed as a herd man by the owner of Shirleigh farm, whose bull he allegedly stole, slaughtered and sold the meat to fellow workers at the farm.

Police arrested him after a tip off, and recovered part of the carcass from the home of Butau’s mother.

Stock theft carries a mandatory sentence of nine years.
