Harare, (New Ziana) – The High Court on Thursday postponed the leadership tussle case between Sengezo Tshabangu and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party to March 21, 2025.

The postponement was caused by delays by the court to provide a consolidated summary of the case. This was only made available on the morning of the hearing, making it difficult for both parties to prepare for the hearing.

This left insufficient time for both the court and legal representatives to properly review the materials, prompting the decision to reschedule.

Tshabangu, who considers himself acting secretary general of the party, has taken the CCC to court challenging his dismissal from the opposition group.

He was expelled allegedly under the instigation of interim party leader, Prof. Welshman Ncube.

He is seeking a court ruling to overturn the expulsion and declare it invalid. Additionally, he is contesting his recall from the Senate, a move that could have major implications for his political career.

Both parties were prepared to present their arguments during the hearing, but the matter will now be heard next Friday.

In a related case, Tshabangu had sought an interim order to prevent the CCC from recalling him from Parliament and to stop the Speaker of Parliament from accepting the recall until the main case (HCH 875/25) is resolved.

However, this application was withdrawn without any order for costs.
