    Inmate escapes from Chinhoyi prison

    Chinhoyi(The Telegrapgh-New Ziana) -An inmate at Baruka Prison Farm in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West province where he was serving a six months jail term recently made good his escape from the correctional facility.

    Tawanda Magara (25 ) from Matsai village ran away from a prison officer while he was performing set duties.

    Magara, together with five other inmates was tasked to go and fetch water from a homestead tank under the escort of a prison officer.

    On the way back from the tank, Magara suddenly dropped the 20 litre bucket he was carrying on his head and started running away.

    The prison officer chased him ordering him to stop but he ignored and disappeared into a nearby farm called Olympus which is owned by the Demitris family.

    Prison officers searched for him but their efforts were futile and he was issued with a warrant of arrest by Chinhoyi Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi-Machakaire.
