MUTARE- Barely a week after a Buhera family mourned the loss of four
children to a lightning strike in their sleep, a Nyanga family met a similar fate
leaving the family fatherless and one sibling short.

Peter Zuze (39) and his son Cornelius Zuze (8), of Karikoga Village, Chief
Katerere, Nyanga died in their sleep after a thunderstorm sent a lightning bolt
    straight to their kitchen hut.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the
incident in which the two were confirmed dead after being rescued by Peter’s
wife with the aid of a neighbor.

“Peter and his son retired to bed in their kitchen whilst Peter’s wife, Maria Sopa
took their three daughters with her to their main bedroom. It started raining in
the middle of the night when Sopa was awakened by the loud bang of a
lightning strike. She peeped through her bedroom window and discovered that
the kitchen hut was on fire,” said Inspector Muzondo.

Sopa rushed over to her neighbour, to ask for assistance in the dead of the night.
The two managed to rescue Peter and Cornelius who were immediately ferried
to Avila Mission Hopsital in Nyanga.

Unfortunately, the two were pronounced dead on admission after succumbing to
    burns on their bodies.
