Masvingo City Deputy Engineer Kudzaishe Mbetu

MASVINGO City’s acting Finance Director Danister Jori and his Engineering Services
counterparts, Engineer Kudzaishe Mbetu, have been appointed substantive director and
deputy director respectively.
Jori has been acting in that capacity since August 2021 after he took over from Thandiwe
Dube, who retired.
In an executive statement undersigned by the acting Town Clerk, Vitalis Shonhai, the local
authority has pledged its support to the newly appointed finance director.
“His Worship, the Mayor, Councillor C. Maboke, Councillors, Town Clerk, and Management
would like to congratulate Mr. Danister Jori on his new appointment as substantive Finance
Director for the City of Masvingo, with effect from the 3rd of January 2023 and wish him
success in office.
“We are confident that your appointment is an endorsement of your visionary leadership and
we wish to pledge our unwavering support and commitment as you lead the Finance
Department.
“We look forward to your insightful leadership as we continue in our endeavour to be An
Industrialised World Class Metropolitan City by 2030,” reads the statement.
Mbetu joined the local authority in 2020 and assumed the post of Acting City Engineer in
February 2021 after the suspension of the then city engineer, Tawanda Gozo.
