Kwekwe (New Ziana) -Four players from Midwest Rhinos cricket franchise side are in India on a two months tour under the guidance of veteran cricketer and coach Elton Chigumbura.

The India tour is of immense significance to Travor Wesley Gwandu, Wallace Mubaiwa, Tashinga Musekiwa and Kuda Macheka as they eye a national team call while cementing their first team places at Rhinos.

The quartet has been playing for Lions Cricket Club in Harare coached by Chigumbura during the domestic T20 NPL games. But the four and coach Chigumbura have since joined Rhinos academy.

Speaking to this publication before their departure to India on Sunday, the players said they were excited by the international exposure which will help improve their play.

Bowling all-rounder Travor Gwandu said he wants to better himself as a bowler and batsman in the game.

“I want to better myself as a bowler and batsman. I want to come back a much better player. Improve my game. Basically, I want to work on my bowling in India. I have been playing cricket for 15 years and India is the home of cricket everyone wants to be there,” he said.

Left arm spinner Wallace Mubaiwa wants to learn more about spin bowling.

“Actually, I am expecting to learn more about cricket in India. Since we are going to a world class cricket playing nation, I want to improve on my spin bowling.

“Going to India is something I always wanted to do in my cricket career. Hopefully, I will be able to meet some of the great cricket players there. I will come back a better player and impact what I learnt in India to my community,” said Mubaiwa.

Batting all-rounder and bowler Musekiwa said he expects great learning experience in India.

“It is always a dream for every cricket player to play in Mumbai or any other place in India, where cricket is made. I am going to have a great time and a great learning experience. I am expecting to meet all-time great Virat Kohli and other great players from India. I think it is going to be an amazing experience for me in India,” said Musekiwa.
