POLICE in Shamva are investigating a murder case that occurred in Madziwa last week Sunday, May 5 when members of the public attacked an unidentified man at Corner Store after accusing him of stealing a satchel that contained USD $450.

The mob allegedly bashed him until he could not walk nor talk, bleeding profusely from the nose and mouth.
Madziwa ZRP stationed officers, speaking on condition of anonymity said the victim suffered severe head injuries during the mob attack.

The accused was rushed to Shamva Hospital for urgent medical attention on the same day, but tragically, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and later succumbed to the injuries.

Police confirmed the incident on their X page.

“The victim succumbed to the head injuries sustained during the assault while on admission at Shamva Hospital. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” read the statement.

The police urged members of the public to desist from taking the law into their hands encouraging them to instead effect citizens’ arrest on suspected criminals but never to discipline them.
