MARONDERA- The Murehwa Rural District Council (MRDC) has embarked on a road rehabilitation programme that will see roads at the business centre getting a facelift.
Most roads at the Murehwa Centre which is in Ward 30, have become unpassable affecting business and inconveniencing those making deliveries to shops. The move by the council has been applauded by the residents.
Collen Samutukwa, the Murehwa Business Association chairman, applauded the move by council and Government for ensuring development at the business centre.
“This move by council is a welcome development. It shows that the authorities of the country have the development of Murehwa at heart. This is the main business centre in the district and there are many people from other wards as well as other districts who come here to get certain services.
“It therefore means that the roads should always be passable and the council has done a good thing by starting the rehabilitation of the infrastructure. This prompt action demonstrates that the Government is committed to addressing the concerns of the citizens and improving their living standards,” Samutukwa said.
Murehwa North legislator Daniel Garwe, under whose constituency the business centre falls was also appreciative of the road rehabilitation exercise.
He said: “We appreciate the efforts that are being made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to support roads rehabilitation throughout the country and Murehwa has not been an exception.
“There is the Emergency Roads Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) whose funds have been channeled to help councils rehabilitate roads. As the Member of Parliament for Murehwa North, I will also continuously support programmes that lead to the development of the constituency.”
Garwe further hailed the Government for availing life-changing opportunities to the district and the nation at large.
With improved road connectivity, the communities can expect increased accessibility, improved trade and enhanced opportunities for development.
As the road rehabilitation works progress, residents eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on their lives and the overall development of Murehwa North Constituency.
