Gokwe, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s policy of inclusivity must be hailed for transforming Nembudziya growth point into a world class rural service centre, a local traditional chief here has said.
In an interview with New Ziana, chief Chireya paid tribute to President Mnangagwa for his visionary leadership that has transformed not only Nembudziya growth point and it’s surroundings, but the whole country.
This year’s national independence celebrations were held at Nembudziya growth point, which under the jurisdiction of the chief.
Chief Chireya said the hosting of the independence day in his area has brought massive developments in the area, with Gokwe growth point now aiming for the attainment of town status.
“We have banks such as CBZ, POSB, filling stations, supermarkets and a state of the are road that links the centre with Kadoma town,” said chief Chireya.
He said since the attainment of independence in 1980, such activities were a preserve for Harare residents and the surrounding communities only, but with the advent of the Second Republic and it’s devolution agenda, Nembudziya has hosted a national event for the first time.
He said the business community is reaping big from the event.
Chief Chireya said the construction of a state of the art football stadium is likely going to attract premier league football into the area, or is going to motivate the local soccer teams to gain promotion into the premier football league.
“Before the hosting of this event, we used to buy fuel from the black market at very high prices, but we now have filling stations.
“Our local hospital is now fully functional and there is no longer need to take sick people to Kadoma, almost 100 km away,” said chief Chireya.
