MUTARE-The City of Mutare has completed the construction of Gimboki
Primary School ECD blocks as part of the local authority’s efforts to improve
social amenities for its residents and ratepayers.
Mutare City council spokesperson, Spren Mutiwi said the new school has
already started enrolling learners from ECD to Grade 2, with the process being
done at Chirowakamwe Primary School in Dangamvura.
“We are pleased to announce the completion of the local authority’s seventh
school in the city. Enrollment for first term 2024 classes is already in progress
and we urge residents and parents to visit Chirovakamwe Primary School for
    administrative purposes, said Mutiwi.
At least 500 students will benefit from the completed four classroom blocks as
the young ones will no longer have to endure long walks to their nearest schools
    in Dangamvura.
“We discovered that the is a deficit of primary schools in Dangamvura and its
surrounding environs. With the growing population of Gimboki, most ECD
learners had to attend classes at a later stage owing to the distance they have to
walk to nearest schools which are close to 3km away. We want to improve
access to primary education in Mutare,” added Mr Mutiwi.
The school is set to open its doors in January 2024 as the mantra of leaving no
one and no place behind becomes a reality to the residents of this location.
Gimboki alone has more than 5 000 properties and currently has no primary or
    secondary school in the area
However, Mutiwi also indicated that there were other perks that came with the
construction of the school in the form of job opportunities that were created for
    constructors.
