Victoria Falls—South African music star Casper Nyovest is set to electrify the stage with his unique blend of hip hop and Kasi rap in the tourist resort town at the Cotton Club.
Casper Nyovest’s performance is slated for May 25 in Victoria Falls with the rest of Africa joining hands to celebrate the content’s big day.
Local artists such as Calvin Mangena, deck spinners Dj Lex, Dj Ashley and Dj Potato will also have an opportunity to share the stage with the ‘Gusheshe’ hit maker.
Popularly known by stage name Casper Nyovest, born Refiloe Maele Phoolo, is a multi-award-winning rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur who gained widespread recognition with his 2014 debut album Tsholofelo, featuring hits like “Gusheshe” and “Doc Shebeleza”.
Bertha Phiri of Pezhuba cultural ensemble revealed that Nyovest’s visit pose a positive impact to local artists.
“His presence attracts new visitors and fans, injecting money into the local economy through ticket sales, merchandise, and hospitality. Seeing a successful artist can be a powerful motivator for local artists, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. There’s also a possibility that Nyovest might share his skills and expertise, helping local artists develop their craft.
“Local artists might connect with his team, potentially leading to new opportunities. The visit could also facilitate cultural exchange, promoting cross pollination of ideas and styles, and even collaborations with local artists.”
She also added that the show will be a platform to share ideas and promote upcoming artists for a possible future networking and collaboration.
“I expect a dynamic and engaging live show from Nyovest that will leave a lasting impression. I’d love for him to interact with local artists, sharing his experiences and offering advice. A community-focused activity, such as a workshop or meet-and-greet, would be fantastic, allowing him to educate and inspire local artists.
Victoria Falls has been drawing top South African artists, with Aymos being the latest to thrill the crowd with his high energy performances and dance moves.
Casper Nyovest has received multiple awards and nominations globally, kicking off his award-winning streak in 2013 with four South Africa Hip Hop Awards. In 2018, he was nominated for Best African Artiste at Nigeria’s Headies Awards, competing with top acts like Nasty C, Sarkodie, Sauti Sol, and Vanessa Mdee.
