Harare (New Ziana) – Police on Tuesday said they were investigating a case in which Deputy Tourism and Hospitality Minister, Barbra Rwodzi allegedly threatened a police officer in a widely circulated audio conversation.

Rwodzi, who is the Zanu PF legislator for Chirumanzu South constituency, was recorded allegedly insulting a senior police officer, who was preparing a docket to investigate a Zanu PF supporter, only known as Danger.

She was recorded while allegedly attempting to interfere with a police investigation and ordering him to drop the investigation involving one of her supporters for defacing political campaign posters of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party.

In a tweet, police said it had begun investigating the case.

In the audio, Rwodzi allegedly threatened to deal with the officer if he pursued the investigations.

“The ZRP (Zimbabwe Republic Police) has taken note of an audio circulating on social media concerning the incident involving some ZRP Charundura members allegedly with the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Honourable Barbra Rwodzi. The case is now under investigation,” police said.
