Harare (New Ziana) -The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe on Monday handed over several foodstuffs and blankets to 200 less privileged members of society from Mashonaland East and Central provinces.

The goods were purchased from proceeds from a golf tournament POTRAZ organised which also received support from the corporate world that included Econet, Netone, DFA, NBS, ZB Bank and Liquid Intelligent Technologies, among others.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony in the capita, POTRAZ director general Dr. Gift Machengete said he was humbled by the enormous support the initiative received, where a number of stakeholders united to bring cheer to the vulnerable and less privileged groups in the communities.

“I am happy to be presiding over the handover of goods that were procured for the less privileged using proceeds from the POTRAZ Charity Golf Day which was held earlier in the year.

“Renowned author, Robin Sharma remarked, and I quote: “I learned to give not because I have much; but because I know exactly how it feels to have NOTHING”. Whether we come from lack or plenty, we can surely imagine and appreciate how it feels to have nothing and how it would feel to get some relief from that state of lack.

“It is against this background that this occasion excites me and gives me a great sense of fulfilment – fulfilment from knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of a few people,” he said.

Machengete said everyone had a moral right to make a difference in the communities which are less privileged and thanked the Department of Social Welfare for heeding requests for partnership in CSR programs.

POTRAZ has also made similar donations in eight other provinces across the country.
