Harare (New Ziana)- President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday announced members of Zanu PF’s highest decision-making body outside congress, the Politburo.
The latest appointments conclude the set-up of the Politburo after the President only appointed his two deputies, General (retired) Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, and national chairperson Oppah Muchinguri.
President Mnangagwa said the appointments followed the recent ruling party elective congress.
“As you may remember, I appointed these ones at the conclusion of our National Congress with a steering committee to run the affairs of the party until the President appoints the Politburo in terms of article 8 (39) of our constitution as well as article 40 of our constitution. I now appoint the fully fledged composition of the Politburo of Zanu PF,” he said.
In the new appointments, former Cabinet Ministers Obert Mpofu, Patrick Chinamasa and Simbarashe Mbengegwi retained their positions of secretaries for administration, finance and external affairs respectively.
New entries include businessman James Makamba (deputy secretary for transport and social Welfare) and former Information, Communication and Technology Minister Supa Mandiwanzira who was appointed the party’s secretary for local government.
The other appointments include (Rtd) Major General Mike Nyambuya who was made deputy secretary for administration, deputy secretary for finance Prof Mthuli Ncube, secretary for the commissariat Mike Bimha, deputy secretary for the commissariat Webster Shamu, secretary for mines and mining development Paul Mangwana, secretary for youth affairs Tinacho Machakaire while Christopher Mutsvangwa emerged as the party secretary for information and publicity.
