CHEGUTU – SOCCER officials in Mashonaland West Province are set to undergo a
    refresher course this weekend.

The course conducted at Chiedza Primary School in Chinhoyi is for al for all ZIFA
match assessors, commissioners and referees who did not attend the previous
    programme.

Provincial technical instructor, Jacob Kuuya, encouraged all members to attend as
failure would automatically lead to members being scratched off the register for next
    year.

The course is also used to select referees for promotion next year.

"Please take note that we will be using your attendance at this course to select
referees for promotion next year, and those who will not attend will be struck off our
register for next year, said Kuuya.

ZIFA panel referees pay $50, Division 1 and commissioners pay $25 while class 2
and 4 referees pay $20 respectively for the course.

A division two referee, Ishmail Gostara, confirmed the importance of the course
saying that it keeps the referees up to date on the latest and future soccer
    developments.

It is very important to attend the course as it will keep us well versed on the sport.
With this world of technology, we need to know more, said Gostara.

Early this year, some soccer officials failed to attend yet another refresher course for
different reasons. Refresher courses are conducted twice a year to assess the
capabilities of referees, physically and mentally.
