    Road accident claims four

    Chinhoyi – FOUR people died while six others were injured in a horrific accident which
    happened in the evening last week.
    The accident involved three different cars – a Toyota Fortuner, a Honda CRV and
    Freightliner truck – occurred at a 77 km peg along Harare-Chirundu highway last
    Sunday (July 9).
    National Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the
    accident and the number of people who perished.
    “The ZRP confirms fatal road accident in which four people were killed whilst six others
    were injured at the 77 kilometer peg along Harare –Chirundu road on July 9 around
    19:45 hours.
    “A Toyota Fortuner vehicle with six passengers’ on board side swiped with a Freightliner
    truck with four passengers on board, resulting in the truck hitting a Honda CRV with two
    occupants. Subsequently the truck veered off the road and hit a tree before overturning.
    “The bodies of the victims were taken to Banket Hospital while the injured are admitted
    at the same hospital.”
    Recently there was another accident which killed nine people while 12 othe4rs were
    injured after a head-on collision between a Nissan Caravan and a Honda Fit, which
    occurred at Gwebi Agricultural College, along the same route.
