Harare, (New Ziana) -Three foreign nationals died while 15 others were injured in an accident along the Harare-Chirundu Highway after a Malawian-registered bus veered off the road and overturned on Sunday afternoon.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed on its X handle on Monday that the crash occurred at around 4:50 PM near the 165-kilometre peg.

It said the bus, carrying 119 passengers, swerved to avoid colliding with a breakdown recovery vehicle that was towing another truck that had been involved in an earlier accident.

The driver of the bus then lost control, and it overturned, landing on its left side.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where three passengers were pronounced dead while the injured were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The identities of the deceased have not yet released the identities of the deceased, as their families have not yet notified.

Investigations into the incident have been launched, with the police urging motorists to exercise caution, particularly when encountering recovery vehicles and and approaching accident scenes.
