In a mouth-watering match from the football home and away fans on who will emerge
victorious, visiting FC Platinum were too resistant and solid to allow the heat from the coal
ovens to burn them as they held the host Hwange FC to a goalless draw in the Castle Premier
League Match that was played at the Colliery stadium in Hwange on Sunday afternoon.
The Colliery Stadium terraces were fully packed as multitudes of fans across the region
thronged to witness a nervous match which was full of mixed emotions for its
unpredictability on who will emerge the victors.
Four time Premier League winners FC Platinum were the better side in the game as they
enjoyed possession, giving Hwange torrid and little time to enjoy with the ball, for they were
always found on the marking side.  The visitors almost took the lead in the 10th minute
through a Brian Banda well taken set piece that was flicked off the crossbar by Wellington
Muuya who started ahead of the first choice Nedrick Madheya. He was forced again to make
a one on one fine save in the 25 th minute after a defensive blunder by Lukas Banda, a chance
    that the visitors regretted.
Head coach Norman Mapeza was content with the point they picked from the Colliery
stadium and he expressed his gratitude to his team’s performance and hard work throughout
    the game.
“I’m glad that my boys played so hard. It’s difficult to play here and go back home with
something at the end of the day. The boys worked so hard and we have to keep on working as
we are going in the right direction. We have no pressure and so far so good we are well on
    course,” said Mapeza.
A draw at the Colliery Stadium means Hwange FC has picked five points from their last five
matches having played to a 1-1 draw last week against Black Rhinos. They dropped to
position 10 on the table with a tally of 20 points. They were forced to drop by College boys
Herentals who saw off Bulawayo Chiefs 2-1 on Saturday.
In the other matches played during the weekend, log leaders Highlanders maintained their
winning streak collecting 15 points from their previous 5 matches and they have gone for 16
matches without tasting a defeat.  Peter Muduhwa’s 27 th minute goal was enough for Bosso to
sink Manica Diamonds and maintain their 4 point gap on the table. Second placed Ngezi
Platinum got their winning goal through Valentine Kadonzvo in the dying minutes with a 1-0
narrow victory against toothless Cranborne Bullets.

Meanwhile new boys in the block Green Fuel had enough petrol to run for 90 minutes as they
emerged with a 1-0 narrow victory against Harare giants 5 th placed Dynamos. Dynamos
missed a penalty on the stroke of halftime when Donald Dzvinyai sent his effort over the bar
before Nqobile Ndlovu found the back of the net in the 70 th minute after catching Dynamos
defense off guard. Caps United had to fight back to secure a point against Triangle after
trailing behind with a goal down before winning a penalty which William Manondo coolly
converted sending Matripples Muleya the wrong way to equalize. Their draw takes them to
position 8 on standings with 21 points from 15 matches but has played a game less on the
    fixture.
