Zaka (New Ziana)– People in Zaka’s Ward 8 are soon expected to have a health facility a stone throw from their homes when construction of Four Miles Clinic is completed.

Ward councilor, Tererai Tererai said that construction of the clinic is almost complete, with the building just awaiting the mounting of the roof.

Tererai said he was particularly happy that initial challenges encountered on the project had been overcome.

“We are only waiting for the 2021 government devolution funds for the whole project to be complete,” he said.

Completion of the clinic is expected to bring an end to the long journeys the villagers used to undertake to the Roman Catholic Church-run Musiso Mission Hospital or Bvukururu clinic to seek medical services.

“We have to travel as far as Musiso Hospital or Bvukururu Clinic to get medical facilities which is usually difficult especially in critical moments,” said a female Ward 8 resident.

From Four miles to Musiso Mission Hospital, the distance is almost 30km which made it often difficult for the villagers to access health services.

“One staff house is complete and once the funds become available, the builders would commence plastering and everything else will be finished,” Clr Tererai said.

Zaka Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Svuure also said he had initiated the construction of two other clinics in the marginalised areas of Tovani and Mbuyamaswa so that residents would not experience any difficulties in accessing medical services.

“There is an ongoing construction at Tovani as well as Mbuyamaswa clinic sites which I think would be very useful to the people living in those areas. Thanks to the government, the whole construction process is progressing well,” said the MP.

On the Four Miles Clinic, Svuure thanked the Ward 8 development team and the villagers for ensuring its success through providing food for the builders as well as taking turns in fetching water at the beginning of the construction.

“There is no doubt that by the end of this year Four Miles Clinic and the other two clinics in Zaka Central will be complete,” he said.
