Zanu PF has won the Ward 18 by-election in Dete, Hwange District, held yesterday.

Nkosilathi Mkandla will succeed the late Councillor Stanley Torima, who died a few months ago.

The party ‘s District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson Mathews Muleya said Mkandla’s election reflects the confidence the people of Dete have placed in him.

“This victory is a reflection of the confidence entrusted in him by the people of Dete and carries with it a great responsibility to serve the community with dedication, humility and commitment,” said Muleya.

He also commend the Hwange District leadership, DCC structures, Women’s League, Youth League, Main Wing, affiliates, campaign teams, polling agents, volunteers and supporters for the collective effort, discipline and commitment demonstrated throughout the campaign.

Muleya thanked residents of Ward 18 for taking part in the democratic process and congratulated them on their new representative.

“We wish Cde Mkandla wisdom and strength as he takes up the responsibility of serving the ward,” he said.
