Harare, (New Ziana) –Zimbabwe will on Thursday and Friday this week host the 22nd Africa-Nordic Foreign Ministers Meeting in the resort town of Victoria Falls, under the theme “Leveraging Technology and Collaboration for Future-Ready Societies.”
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson Philisiwe Chidawanyika confirmed the meeting, saying the high-level gathering will bring together African Foreign Ministers, their counterparts from the five Nordic countries namely Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, as well as representatives from the business community, academia, and young innovators.
She said the conference aims to strengthen Africa-Nordic relations with a renewed emphasis on innovation, trade, and investment as drivers of sustainable prosperity.
“This meeting presents an important platform for strategic dialogue to consolidate cooperation between Africa and the Nordic countries, with a focus on building future-ready societies through technology and collaboration,” she said.
Chidawanyika said the program is set to feature several thematic sessions and side events, including, Africa-Nordic Business Roundtable Forum on “Sustainable Prosperity through Partnerships: Integrating Ecosystems and De Risking Business for Accelerated Growth.”
Hosting the 22nd edition of the Ministerial meeting marks a significant diplomatic milestone for the country, as the event is expected to not only deepen cooperation between Africa and the Nordic region, but also align with the national vision to attain upper middle income status by 2030, which prioritizes innovation-led growth, investment, and global partnerships.
“This important gathering underscores Zimbabwe’s commitment to fostering strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships that contribute to the Africa we want and the global future we envision,” said Chidawanyika.
With Victoria Falls providing a symbolic backdrop of natural grandeur, Zimbabwe is positioning itself as a bridge-builder in strengthening ties between Africa and the Nordic countries.
