Harare, (New Ziana) — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has declared its preparedness to maintain peace and order across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday, assuring citizens of their right to freely carry out socio-economic activities without fear or intimidation.
In a statement on Monday, the ZRP said it has deployed adequate personnel nationwide, including in Central Business Districts (CBDs), residential zones, industrial areas, and other public spaces, to ensure normalcy prevails during the two days.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is fully prepared to execute its constitutional mandate without fear or favour. We will ensure that the public can go about their business without facing threats, harassment, or any form of disruption,” said national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
He warned that any individuals attempting to interfere with the smooth flow of traffic or the free movement of people will be arrested, adding that law and order would be strictly upheld, and all efforts to destabilize public peace would be firmly dealt with.
Com Nyathi also cautioned the public against the misuse of social media platforms and to disregard online posts intended to incite panic or sow discord, labeling such content as false and potentially harmful to national peace.
In light of the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), the ZRP extended a special assurance to both local and international exhibitors, reaffirming their safety and security throughout the event.
“The safety of all ZITF participants is guaranteed. We have measures in place to ensure the event proceeds without incident,” said Com Nyathi.
He reiterated that any instigators of violence or economic disruption would face serious consequences under the law and encouraged all citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding, playing their part in preserving national stability.
