MARONDERA- A 42-year-old man from Beatrice was allegedly murdered by a traditional healer after accusing the healer of being fraudulent and failing to cure his infertility issues.

It is reported that in the early hours of October 15, the police in Beatrice received a report of murder, alleging that Jack Jere (38), a traditional healer, had murdered Trust Pangolani using an unknown sharp object at his residence.

“On the day preceding the report, during the day, the now-deceased Trust Pongolani and Gift Amuli were drinking beer at Damview shops in Nyatsime, Beatrice. At approximately 8.30pm the accused Jack Jere and Prosper Gore, who is Trust’s brother-in-law, joined them and they continued drinking together. After some time, the four decided to change location and proceeded to Chibhanguza complex,” Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi said.

The quartet reportedly proceeded to Pongolani’s residence where he collected US$10 and returned to Chibhanguza complex where they bought more beers.

Towards midnight, Pongolani, Jere, and Gore headed home and along the way, Pongolani confronted Jere, accusing him of being a fraudulent traditional healer who failed to cure his infertility issues.

“Gore parted ways with Pongolani and Jere, heading towards his nearby homestead. However, instead of entering his house, he discreetly followed the duo from a distance, concerned about their ongoing heated argument. Moments later, Gore heard Pongolani’s frantic screams, claiming that Jere had stabbed him.”

Gore then rushed to inform an unnamed individual about the tragic incident, and they went to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Pongolani lifeless on the ground, with a deep stomach wound and exposed intestines.said

The deceased’s body was taken to Chitungwiza General Hospital Mortuary, pending a post-mortem and next kin was advised.
