Harare (New Ziana) – Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Nelson Chamisa on Saturday cast his vote at Kuwadzana 2 Primary school, where by-elections to select Kuwadzana East legislator were underway.

He was accompanied to the polling station by CCC deputy spokesperson Ostallos Siziba and several other party members.

Immediately after casting his vote, Chamisa told reporters that he was excited to have voted in the plebiscite.

“I am excited because I have cast my vote. I am excited because this is an opportunity for change,” he said.

He described the by-elections as a teaser for the 2023 harmonised polls.

“This is just a teaser, just the beginning and we want to make sure that we correct the national mistake of the recalling of citizenry representatives from Parliament and Council,” he said.

As usual, Chamisa said he is disappointed with the way the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has handled the election.

” But we are also disappointed because if you look at the way the indelible ink is not that indelible.

“We have received reports from across the country where we hear that ZEC has not done a perfect job, in fact ZEC has failed to pass the different tests that we have put,” he said.

A total of 12 National Assembly seats are being contested in the capital including Harare Central, Epworth, Harare East, Kuwadzana East and Mufakose.

In Kuwadzana East Constituency, CCC candidate Charlton Hwende is vying for the seat against Enerst Chagadama of ZANU-PF, Urayai Mangwiro of MDC Alliance, David Kachidza of UZA and Patriotic Zimbabwe’s Selestino Majiri.
