MUTARE-Zanu PF Mutare Central Constituency aspiring legislator, Esau
Mupfumi has assured thousands of Sakubva residents that the Presidential Title
Deeds and Settlement Regularisation Programme started by the Second Republic
will be extended to them and all cities and towns.
Addressing at a rally in Sakubva, Mutare Central Constituency, Mupfumi said
President Mnangagwa was keen to see the regularisation of all urban settlements,
with all home owners getting title deeds to their properties.
“Here in Mutare Central, there are problems affecting our people. The colonial rule
put in place measure that have been retrogressive for our people for many years by
denying home owners of their title deeds and awarding such to those in the low
density suburbs. Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, the Government
wants you to have good accommodation and to be proud home owners,” said
    Mupfumi.
“You must have title deeds of where you stay. The programme that was started by
the Second Republic under the leadership of His Excellency Dr Emmerson
Dambudzo Mnangagwa is there to stay and everybody in Zimbabwe will have
ownership of where they are staying. As we speak, by August 23 some of the
residents would have already attained them as this has been put forward as a
priority in light of the Sakubva Urban Renewal Project which has already
    commenced,” he added.
Mupfumi urged the residents of Sakubva to be patient with the process which
would have financial benefit for the locals in the long run.
“Be patient, we are almost there. Those staying in areas which are not suitable for
residential purposes or areas set aside for other amenities like electricity will be
accommodated in high rise apartments. Once you have attained your deeds most of
you will be able to attain loans that require collateral to access funding for income
    generating projects,” he said.

Sakubva township is a high-density suburb in the city of Mutare, which contains
nearly a quarter of the population of Mutare despite an area of less than ten square
    kilometers.
It was the first high-density suburb to be established in Mutare. At that time, it was
located in the Old Location section of Sakubva. It is the poorest of Mutare's suburb
and its economy is centred on a large outdoor food and flea market.
The nation goes to the polls on the 23rd of August with over 6.5 million registered
voters expected to cast their ballots for council, parliamentary and presidential
    candidates.
